A universal fabrication kit for building your own stainless-skinned exhaust heat shielding. It pairs a 1000mm x 600mm embossed 304 stainless steel sheet, 0.1mm thick, with a 1000mm x 600mm adhesive-backed high-temperature thermal insulation sheet, 4mm thick, so the shield can be shaped around the exhaust component you want to cover.

• Embossed 304 stainless steel sheet, 1000mm x 600mm and 0.1mm thick, in a washable embossed finish, supplied with a 4mm adhesive-backed high-temperature insulation sheet of the same size.
• The insulation is manufacturer-rated for continuous exposure to temperatures up to 980°C.
• The 4mm insulation helps contain heat closer to its source, while the embossed 304 stainless outer layer protects the insulation and creates a lightweight fabricated finish.
• Materials can be cut and formed around exhaust manifolds, turbo manifolds, exhaust joints, downpipes, catalytic converters, wastegate pipework and suitable custom exhaust sections.
• Aimed at race, rally, track and fast-road applications, as well as high-end road and show builds where a fabricated stainless finish is preferred over exposed exhaust wrap.

• Installation method: Cut, form and resistance spot weld
• Installation difficulty: Advanced DIY fabrication or professional installation
• Tools required: Requires a suitable battery-powered resistance spot welder, metal-cutting tools, card for creating templates, a marker pen, suitable forming tools, degreasing products, cut-resistant gloves and eye protection
• Welder required: A resistance spot welder capable of joining two layers of 0.1mm 304 stainless steel is required
• Welder recommendation: A mid-range or professional-quality welder is recommended to produce stronger and more consistent welds
• Test welding: The welder should always be tested on a small unused section of the supplied stainless before welding the finished shield
• Stainless overlap: Each stainless section should overlap the next by approximately 20mm before being resistance spot welded to itself
• Weld spacing: Welds should be positioned approximately 50mm to 80mm apart, with closer spacing around curves or anywhere the stainless wants to lift
• Insulation at seams: The insulation should stop slightly short of every planned stainless seam
• Flange clearance: A clearance gap of a few millimetres should be left between the end of the shield and the flange
• Surface preparation: The surface must be completely oil-free and dry before the adhesive-backed insulation is applied
• No open flame: Never use an open flame where flammable cleaning-product residue or vapour may still be present
• Component removal: Removing the exhaust component from the vehicle is strongly recommended
• Best fitted: Best fitted while the manifold, downpipe or exhaust section is already removed during a turbo conversion, engine build, exhaust fabrication job or major repair
• Logo plate installation: Each logo plate is secured using four spot welds, with one tack at each corner
• Clamshell fabrication: The stainless outer layer can be fabricated as a retained clamshell-style cover where the shape of the component allows it
• Professional installation: Professional installation is recommended if the buyer is not confident in measuring, cutting, forming or spot welding thin stainless steel
• Glove use: Cut-resistant gloves must always be worn when handling, positioning or cutting the stainless sheet
• Eye protection: Suitable eye protection must be worn while cutting, forming or welding the materials
• Edge finishing: Every exposed stainless edge should be deburred, folded or safely contained before installation
• Welding hazards: Do not cut or weld near fuel, batteries, wiring, flammable vapour or combustible materials
